August 3, 2025
18th Sunday of the Year C
“Take care to guard against all greed, for though one may be rich, one’s life does not consist of possessions.” (Luke 12)
In a world where we can get anything we want from the stores nearby, or on the internet, Jesus words remind us of our spiritual nature and the need to use things properly and direct them, or the lack of them, to our spiritual good, and the good of our neighbor; he also admonishes us to be rich, not in this world’s goods, or in the things that many people think are important, but to be rich “in what matters to God”: the virtues of charity, faith, hope, generosity, truth, integrity, and purity of heart.
